Amazon suspends US drone shipments following accident at test site


Amazon has paused testing of its delivery drones after an accident involving two of its models, according to at Bloomberg. That’s Amazon’s most recent return Prime Air programwhich aims to deliver about 500 million packages a year to customers by the end of the decade.

Bloomberg reports that two Amazon drones crashed at a test site in Pendleton, Oregon, in December. In one incident in September, drone operators employed by the company were testing how the drones would react if one of their products failed, according to Bloomberg, and accidentally launched two test flights at the same time – causing the drones to crash.

Amazon said it would suspend drone deliveries in Texas and Arizona, where it has drones, pending an update to its software, according to Bloomberg.
