Apple brings the Store app to the Indian market


Apple launched its dedicated Apple Store program in India on Friday, expanding its retail presence in the world’s most populous country as the iPhone maker looks to capitalize on growing consumer demand.

The appwhich is available for download on India’s App Store, allows customers to buy Apple products directly while receiving their shopping recommendations, the company said.

Through the program, users can also upgrade their Macs with more powerful chips, additional memory or additional storage – long sought after by Indian customers – and arrange delivery or pickup of their purchases.

The move comes as Apple is working to boost its presence in India, where it has opened its doors First retail locations in Mumbai and Delhi in 2023. The app has separate tabs for products, customization options and after-sales support including online installation sessions with Apple experts. Customers can also sign up for free courses at Apple stores and learn about Apple’s products and revenue streams as well as add free literature on devices such as AirPods and iPads in eight languages.

India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market, is slowly becoming an important location for Apple as it looks to expand its manufacturing base outside of China. The company started assembling iPhones in India in 2017 and since then to increase production through partners including Foxconn and Indian conglomerate Tata.
