Social media reactions poured in Wednesday night President Biden delivered his farewell address to the country ending his political career that lasted more than half a century.
“Joe Biden discussing democracy, a free press, institutions and the abuse of power in his final farewell speech is rich,” said Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace. published in X.
“What a shameful and pathetic end to a shameful and pathetic term,” Fox News anchor Greg Gutfeld said. published in X.
“Joe Biden can’t even read. Every time he talks, he gets worse,” conservative commentator and radio host Clay Travis. published in X. “Trying to run it in 2024 is the most reckless and indefensible presidential decision of any of our lifetimes.”
BIDEN BACKS UP WHEN ASKED IF TRUMP DESERVES CREDIT FOR ISRAEL-HAMAS Cease-Fire Deal: ‘IS IT A JOKE?’
“My thoughts on President Joe Biden’s farewell speech: It was underwhelming and divisive,” Gabriella Hoffman, director of the Center for Energy and Conservation’s Independent Women’s Forum. published in X.
“I’m relieved his four-year term is up. Mr. Biden failed to bring Americans together and pushed terrible ‘whole of government’ policies that weakened us on many fronts: energy, national security, the economy /small business, foreign affairs and general liberties.History will not look kindly on Biden’s tenure. He is now the most unpopular president of the United States in history.
“Joe Biden cites climate hysteria over real priorities, like border security, cost-cutting and peace through force,” Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin. published in X. “They never learn.”
“Joe Biden is leaving office the same way he came in: petty, partisan and, frankly, not telling the truth,” said Republican congressman Darrell Issa. published in X.
“I’m shocked,” former Democratic adviser Dan Turrentine published in X. “I’m not a historian, but can’t I remember a darker presidential farewell speech? It’s more of a shout-out to the DNC than accentuating the positive in the country. That’s sad.”
“Biden ends his presidency using rhetoric that would be right at home in a third-world communist dictatorship,” said Red State writer Bonchie. published in X. “This may be the worst farewell address in presidential history.”
Democrats, however, generally took a decidedly different view.
“Four years ago, in the midst of a pandemic, we needed a leader with character to put politics aside and do what was right,” said former President Barack Obama. published in X.
“That’s what Joe Biden did. At a time when our economy was reeling, he drove what would become the world’s strongest recovery: with 17 million new jobs, historic wage gains and lower health. He passed historic legislation to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and address the threat of climate change. I am grateful to Joe for his leadership, his friendship, and his life in service to this country.”
Liberal commentator Harry Sisson published in X“President Biden just gave the best speech of his presidency.”
“His farewell speech was incredibly moving. I will always be grateful for President Biden and his talented administration. Thank you to everyone who served and gave America four incredible years.”
Biden’s speech comes as he has four days left in his presidency until Monday’s inauguration, when President-elect Trump will take the oath of office.
“My fellow Americans, I am speaking to you tonight the Oval Office. Before we get started, let me talk about today’s big news. After eight months of non-stop negotiations, Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire and hostage agreement in my administration. The elements of which I laid out in great detail in May of this year,” Biden said in his opening remarks, taking credit for the recent announcement that a cease-fire agreement had been reached in Israel.

“This plan was developed and negotiated by my team, and will be largely implemented by the incoming administration. That’s why I told my team to keep the incoming administration fully informed, because that’s how it should be, working together as Americans,” he continued. .
Biden’s speech also focused on the american dream and the “most powerful idea” that “we are all created equal.”
“The very idea of America was so great that we felt the whole world needed to see it. The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France after our civil war. Like the very idea of America. He built it not one person, but many people, from all backgrounds and from all over the world, the Statue of Liberty is not standing, literally, on a broken chain of human slavery, he said.
“A nation of pioneers and explorers, of dreamers and fans, of ancestors native to this land, of ancestors who came by force. A nation of immigrants came to build a better life, a nation with a torch. The most powerful idea ever. the history of the world that we are all equal, we all deserve to be treated with dignity, justice and fairness to defend and define ourselves, move from in every possible way our rights, our freedoms, our dreams,” he said.
