Adobe Firefly Bulk Create edits multiple images at once

Business owners often need to update the same images over and over again to keep their websites and social media up to date. With the advent of AI-powered photo and video editing platforms, organizations are turning to these products to ease these tedious tasks.

Adobe announced Adobe Firefly Bulk Create, a new feature linked to the Adobe Firefly Services API suite that supports this process. Bulk Create is an online application that allows users to edit multiple images with AI at once.

Bulk Create does not require users to download desktop software or obtain a license to run Photoshop. As long as someone pays for Adobe Firefly Services, they can access the Bulk Create online software.

Currently, Bulk Create can do two things: change backgrounds and change images. Usage Firefly version of Adobeusers can remove or change all at once the background of the images they upload. They can too creating a new foundation and install it on the platform using Firefly. The resizing feature is available for popular sites such as Instagram or Facebook, which have unique features.

The app also learns color preferences so customers can customize how their photos look.

Bulk Create is currently in private beta, but Adobe said the platform will be generally available in the first quarter of this year.

A math problem

Hannah Elsakr, vice president of product at Adobe Firefly GenAI for Enterprise, told VentureBeat that sorting through the volume of images and the time it takes to edit and edit is a mathematical problem that is still a major challenge for many enterprise design teams.

“There’s an incredible demand for content at every level, and it’s confusing for a lot of creative teams,” Elsakr said. “And what I mean by this is (that) we have more and more digital channels that are needed to personalize and engage.”

Elsakr said businesses — retailers, for example — often have to adjust product shots for their websites and social media to reflect the weather. That would mean about 52 updates a year, one new image per week. Photography is expensive, so retouching photos to change the background or change them to different colors is a cost-effective option. While most users can use Adobe’s popular editing tool, Photoshop, Bulk Create allows people who may not have Photoshop access to edit to complete the process.

Right now, Bulk Create only edits images, though Elsakr said video support may be coming soon.

Adobe has been a big player in the creative space. In June 2023, it released a Firefly’s business model which provided “commercial” AI. After that announcement, some Adobe stock photo makers expressed their concerns for the company to be teaching the example and their work. In 2024, users will find out other terms in Adobe’s Terms of Service requiring customers to agree to provide access to their work, Adobe promised that does not teach Firefly on customer service.
