‘Clear vision’: Tories rally around Hegseth after ‘crushing’ fiery confirmation hearing


Reactions poured in social networks and elsewhere, as Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, he was criticized by Democrats on Capitol Hill after a tense confirmation hearing that often got personal.

“He communicated a clear vision for a new day at the Pentagon where the Defense Department leaves behind the weakness of awakening and focuses on deterrence through force,” Ryun said. “And when the Democrats tried to use the anonymously sourced attacks to undermine Pete, he handled them gracefully. It was really a great hearing for him and I have no doubt that he will be easily confirmed.”

“As the daughter of a West Point graduate and an Army captain who served in Vietnam, I can say that those primary goals have fallen subordinate to progressive political goals,” she continued. “Military academies have surrendered to awakened ideology, jeopardizing their purpose of producing outstanding leaders of intellectual, mental and physical strength who can protect and defend the United States. Although Democratic lawmakers accused of abandoning veterans, Hegseth demonstrated that he has always been dedicated to their well-being not just in words but in deeds.”

Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., said after the hearing that it’s important that Hegseth be confirmed “immediately” and allowed to start as soon as possible.

“For me, it’s important that I get to work right away,” Banks told reporters.

“We can’t vote to confirm it out of committee until President Trump is President Trump again. So on January 20th, the committee will meet and we’ll take it out of committee … and hopefully it will go to a vote immediately . on the ground because we can’t wait,” he continued.

After the hearing, several Senate Democrats expressed reluctance to support Hegseth, saying he was unqualified.
