Hegseth was interrupted by several protesters during the Senate confirmation hearing

President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, was interrupted by at least three protesters during his Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday.

“Veterans are killing themselves and homeless, but we’re sending money to bomb kids in Gaza,” a protester in fatigues shouted as she was escorted from the audience, Fox News Digital video shows.

Hegseth appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday morning as lawmakers questioned them ahead of the committee’s vote and final confirmation vote on his nomination for defense secretary.

Hegseth has denied the allegations and has promised not to drink “a drop of alcohol” if confirmed in Trump’s cabinet.

“Senator, no. I think… our troops, as you know, as many on this committee know, they did the best they could with what they had. … And tragically, the outcome that we saw in Afghanistan under the Biden administration put a stain on that, but it doesn’t put a stain on what those men and women in uniform did, as you well know, Senator Hegseth replied.
