Microsoft creates new internal AI org

Microsoft has created a new technology organization that aims to accelerate AI development and software development within the company.

According to at Bloomberg, Jay Parikh, former VP and head of engineering at Meta, will lead the new division. He will report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and oversee teams, including the company’s AI platform and software development teams.

Parikh has worked in technical and data center operations at Meta. Before joining Microsoft in October, he was appointed CEO of cloud security startup Lacework.

The new team, called CoreAI – Platform and Tools, is a merger of Microsoft’s existing Dev Div and AI teams, The Verge reported. reportstogether with other employees in the Office of the CTO division. CoreAI also transforms Microsoft’s software development teams to ensure AI remains at the forefront.

In an internal memo published on Microsoft’s blogNadella said that Microsoft’s focus in the coming year will be “model-forward” software that “will redefine entire categories of software.”
