The Indian national cricket team is yet to announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is scheduled to be played from February 19 and the deadline to announce the squad for the tournament has already been reached as the ICC has set February 12 as the last date to name the provisional squad .
Earlier, the media reported that the BCCI had requested an extension from the ICC as the team had just returned from Australia, after playing a five-match Test series. However, the real reason behind the postponement of the Indian team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has been revealed.
The fitness of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav is the main reason for delaying the announcement of India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
According to reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that BCCI is still unclear about the fitness of Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. The governing body is still awaiting reports on the fitness of the two key players, which is why they have asked for an extension to the ICC Champions Trophy squad announcement.
Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury during the final Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and recently the Indian Express revealed that the fast bowler has swelling on his back. It has been learned that the pacer might miss the league stage of the ICC Champions Trophy and play the knockouts.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav faced a groin injury just at the start of the New Zealand Test series. He underwent surgery in Germany and has been working hard at the NCA, making sure he returns in time to play in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Recent reports claim that Kuldeep Yadav is very close to reaching full fitness. The wrist spinner is likely to be fit by the end of this month and could even play in the ODI series against the England national cricket team, which starts on February 6.

The Indian cricket team squad will now be announced on January 19. The development was confirmed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla after a special general meeting on Sunday.
Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by Times of India: “The squad for the Champions Trophy is likely to be announced on January 19.”

India’s national cricket team squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 could be in for a surprise. There were several reports claiming that young players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy are all set to be selected for the team.
India will play their matches in Dubai in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They will start their campaign against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
