Green Bay Packers 10-22 Philadelphia Eagles: Jordan Love throws three interceptions in Packers’ playoff exit | NFL news

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, winning somewhat 22-10.

The Eagles had four takeaways in the contest, but converted only one of them into points — a Packers fumble that helped set up Jalen Hurts’ touchdown pass to Jahan Dotson three plays later.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw two bad interceptions in the second quarter, while Brandon McManus also missed a fairly direct 38-yard attempt for Green Bay.

Somehow, despite such glaring mistakes, the Packers trailed by just 10 at halftime as a rusty Eagles offense — Saquon Barkley aside — failed to turn its dominance into a bigger lead on the scoreboard.

Green Bay threatened to pick up points in the second half, but lost multiple offensive weapons to injuries and their challenge soon faded as a result, Philadelphia all but secured a tie at home in the Divisional Round next weekend.

Their opponents will be either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or one of the Los Angeles Rams or Minnesota Vikings if the Bucs lose at home to the Washington Commanders on Sunday night.

The Rams meet the Vikings to round out Wild Card Weekend on Monday night, live on Sky Sports NFL from 1 am on Tuesday.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert scored a touchdown after moving a Green Bay Packers defender out of the way of not once, but two stiff arms.

Philadelphia responded right back, reasserting its dominance when Dallas Goedert brutalized Green Bay cornerback Carrington Valentine, not once, but twice on his way into the end zone for a 24-yard TD.

Josh Jacobs answered Goedert’s challenge with an angry run of his own to end the third quarter, the Packers mowing down several Eagles defenders for a 32-yard strike that set up his goal-line score to start the fourth quarter.

At that stage, it looked like the game might come alive, with Green Bay trailing by just six, but with the likes of Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs on the sidelines in the middle of the game — added to an already missing Christian Watson from the receiving corps — a thrilling finale fell short. ignite.

The Eagles pulled away comfortably from their opponents with two goals from Jake Elliott, before Love’s third interception late in the game ended the contest as the Packers’ desperation mounted.

How to beat Barkley?

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley: “I love it. I tweeted a year ago while I was sitting on the couch that I had to get back to playing playoff football, so I’m happy to be here and shout out to my teammates.

“The most important thing in the playoffs is to win and move on – no matter what it looks like. There are some things we can work on and improve.”

Sky Sports NFL’s Jason Bell: “It was competitive, both defenses showed themselves, but it was about turnovers – they were crucial, especially in a tight game like we had.

“He (Barkley) deserves this, he’s that offense, he gives them juice, he gives them life. They understand it’s for them to get to the Super Bowl on Saquon — how do you beat them when he’s playing?”

Sky Sports NFL’s Ndamukong Suh: “That’s why I came back to play football with Philly in 2022, there was an opportunity to get back to the big dance and enjoy those moments. This is what you play the game for, to play in these big games.”

Sky Sports NFL’s Phoebe Schecter: “The turnovers, the penalties, the downs, you can see why (Packers head coach) Matt LaFleur was so frustrated with the team at the end. The Packers were pretty close the whole time, but it was about who makes less mistakes in that situation.”
