Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp are back online after ‘technical issues’


Instagram, Facebook, Threads and Messenger are back online after widespread “technical issues” took down most of Meta’s major apps for several hours on Wednesday. “We’re 99% there – just doing the final checks,” the company wrote changes at X about four hours after he first admitted it was over.

The company did not make it clear what caused the problem, or when the problems might be fixed. Starting at 4:30 PM PT on Wednesdays, Meta’s advanced dashboard it still showed “significant disruptions” to its business and visible devices, although some services were listed as “terminated” or “recovery.” Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and Messenger seem to have recovered, however.

For a while, even the Meta company website was showing the words “This page is not available now.” When Engadget first reached out to Meta for comment, the company pointed to the acronym on X admitting that “a technical problem is affecting our users’ ability to access our software.”

The last meter to deal with a serious problem in March 2024 which prevented users from accessing its software and services for two hours. The blackout was caused by a “technical problem” and Meta communications director Andy Stone, which is the same explanation that Meta has given to this day.
