In the beginning of January every year, technology companies descend on the desert of Las Vegas, Nevada, because. CES. The trade show is the largest technology event in the world, with more than 138,000 attendees and 2.5 million floor spaces. It is a place for businesses – start-ups, multinationals, suppliers, distributors, and financiers – to connect. But these shows are also open to the media and the general public, so everyone is competing for attention, eyeballs, and wallets. The level of glitz and spectacle, especially in the corporate world, is sky high.
Photographer Tristan deBrauwere has been on the ground in Las Vegas all week shooting the WIRED show; see his three picture modern buildings of his great works. Today, Tristan takes us backstage to show us that even in its robotic, vibrating, internet-connected booth, CES is still a show dominated by humanity.
