Universal Shuffles Shrek and the Minions Around His 2026 Plans

It wasn’t long ago that DreamWorks revealed Shrek franchise was coming back with new movie. For those happy to return he, Fiona, and Donkeyyou have to wait a little bit.

On Friday, Universal announced it had pushed it Shrek 5 from July 1, 2026 to December 23 of the same year. Friends 3 now he has said Shrek is first place; Illumination’s threequel was announced last year with an expected release date of June 30, 2027. And where Friends Once upon a time, an untitled video from Illumination has now planted the flag on the date of June 2027 after being locked up in March.

The studio didn’t say why it pushed the movies forward (or back), but it could work Shrek and Friends‘ grace. The Despicable Me franchise tends to do well around Independence Day, and children’s films they have been shown to have very strong holiday legs.
