Sydney Sixers batsman Steve Smith produced a magical effort with the bat in the ongoing match against Perth Scorchers in the 2024-25 Big Bash League (BBL). The match between these two teams is played at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Steve Smith, playing his first game in the ongoing 2024-25 Big Bash League, made sure he hit the bat immediately and set the stage on fire. The right-hander was at his best and pitched one of his best innings in the league.
Smith got off to a very slow start in the innings, but once he got his eye on it, he made sure he was hitting pitchers all over the park. The top batsman wowed his class with the bat and hardly put a foot wrong in his innings after being set up after a shaky start.
Smith first hit a sensational half-century and then made sure to hit the gas pedal. The batsman scored a glorious century but had his nervous moments along the way, especially when he was in his 90s and was keen to reach his century.
Smith, when he was 95, tried to reach his century in style. Jhye Richardson bowled a full toss outside off which the batsman shuffled over long-on and flicked over midwicket. It looked like the ball would go for a six and the batsman would reach his century in style.
But Sam Fanning, who was deep in it, made an incredible effort. He jumped to the right and the momentum carried him over the rope. However, he showed magnificent presence of mind and brought it back into the game to save four runs in the process.

However, three balls later, Smith hit his century to reach the milestone in just 58 balls. The batsman registered his third century in the history of the Big Bash League and ensured that he put his team in a dominant position in the match against the Perth Scorchers.
Smith finished the innings on an unbeaten 121 runs off 64 balls. He batted at a strike rate of over 189 and also hit 10 fours and 7 sixes. His innings with the bat powered the Sydney Sixers to a total of over 220 runs with the bat.
