Nuno was named manager of the month after Nottingham Forest’s outstanding run

Nuno Espirito Santo was today rewarded for Nottingham Forest’s brilliant recent run by being named Premier League Manager of the Month for December.

Forest have made it five wins in a month and after a 3-0 win at Wolves on Monday, they now sit in third place, just six points behind Liverpool.

The East Midlands club were expected to be embroiled in a relegation battle this season, but are now fighting for at least a top-four finish and a place in the Champions League.

After opening December with a loss to Manchester City, Forest have beaten Manchester United, Aston Villa, Brentford, Tottenham and Everton.

Tomorrow they play Luton in the FA Cup.

The player of the month award went to Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international scored eight goals and assisted two more in just six games as the Magpies moved up the table.

Isak is the first Newcastle player to win the award since Miguel Almiron won it in October 2022.
