Prince Edward represents the House of Windsor at Jimmy Carter’s funeral

Prince Edward represented his brother, King Charles III, at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday.

The third in line to the British throne sat next to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the funeral at Washington National Cathedral. President Biden greeted them as they exited the cathedral.

The prince paid his respects to Carter earlier in the day as the late president lay in state at the Capitol.

King Charles paid tribute to Carter in a statement following his death last month.

“He was a committed public servant and dedicated his life to promoting peace and human rights. His dedication and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I remember with great fondness his visit to the UK in 1977,” the king wrote.

“My thoughts and prayers are with President Carter’s family and the American people at this time,” he added.
