A compelling, masterful account of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The Crown touches on many topics beyond the monarchy, including politics, family and the turmoil of the royal marriage – that of Charles and Diana. Over the course of its impressive six-season run, the show is underpinned by strong writing and compelling storylines that engage viewers, regardless of how they feel about the British monarchy.
Inspired by real events from the life of writer-actor Richard Gadd, Baby Reindeer follows Donny Dunn, a comedian whose day job is bartending. It is at the bar that he takes a liking to a stranger named Marita, starting a months-long quest to find her. Donny’s experience of being followed brings up a lot of unresolved trauma, making for an interesting story. The seven-episode series recently won an Emmy award and is available to stream.

It follows a high school teacher, Walter White, who starts cooking meth after being diagnosed with cancer and worries about providing for his family. The Blue Eye Samurai series revolves around Mizu, a mixed-race warrior who wants to avenge four men – one of whom is his father. Set during the Edo period in Japan, the show features Maya Erskine as Mizu, Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, George Takei, Masi Oka, Brenda Song, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Mark Dacascos in the cast. The Great British Baking Show (also known as The Great British Bake-Off) has become synonymous with comfort television, and continues to provide all the right sounds. Alison Hammond, who joined last season, has proven to be the most amazing of the current show, which includes Noel Fielding and judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. The competition show features 12 bakers participating in three baking challenges each week, and although the new season has just ended (perhaps a little!) there are still seven more seasons that offer delicious comfort to watch again.
This drama-drama follows Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), a college dropout with no legal skills who manages to get a job at the law firm of one New York lawyer, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). They become a powerful team, but they have to hide Mike’s lack of knowledge. Proof of the genius of Suits is that it became the most watched series when it arrived on Netflix in 2023. (The star power of now-Duchess Meghan Markle, who plays paralegal Rachel Zane in the show, was probably also the reason.) All seasons are streaming on the platform now.

Danson has also teamed up with Good Place showrunner Mike Schur for this new comedy about a retired widower named Charles whose quest to find an exciting new job lands him a job as a spy for a local detective. His job? To break into a retirement home in San Francisco to find out who has been robbing the residents. The problem is that Charles, loving and passionate as he is, continues to make friends with all the suspects. The eight-episode film shot to the top of the Top Ten of Netflix when it was released in November 2024 and is the best consolation.

In the first season of the show, FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Basso) works at the White House in the secret Night Agent program, where he is drawn into a dangerous operation after learning that a mole may be hiding in the government. The second show will arrive on Jan. 23, 2025.
The new spy series Black Doves only arrived on the platform last week, but it shot into the Netflix Top 10 and has been renewed for a second season. Keira Knightly – who just received a Golden Globe nomination for the role – as Helen Webb, a spy married to a British government politician who doesn’t know much about her. Ben Whishaw plays Helen’s friend and joins Sam, an assassin struggling with his own sense of morality, in an action-packed (and bloody) series full of espionage and dark humor.
