President-elect Donald Trump announced that the Gulf of Mexico will receive a new name.
“We’re going to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a nice ring to it. That covers a lot of ground,” Trump said Tuesday. “The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. And it’s fitting.”
Trump made the announcement in his first press conference since Congress certified his election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday from Mar-a-Lago. He opened the press event by announcing that DAMAC Properties will invest $20 billion in new data centers across the country, as well as previewing a number of political issues ahead of its inauguration this month.
