It’s Sunday the launch of Roborock’s Saros Z70 the first crazy market robot vacuums by using a machine, your next helper can pick up the trash that is scattered around the room instead of just cleaning it around. I was invited to see the latest Saros Z70 in New York last month, this week’s launch on CES. The 10 or so home tech reporters in attendance ooh’d and aah’d as the robot arm plucked the folded socks from the floor and piled them neatly to the side — though the show didn’t go exactly as planned (more on that later).
Roborock’s Saros Z70, was unveiled earlier Sunday CES in Las Vegasit features the first five-axis robotic arm called OmniGrip that extends from the bot when it encounters objects. Lifts any item weighing up to 10.5 pounds and places it in a single pile or designated basket to continue cleaning in a seamless manner.
.
Debuting on the stage of the Soho House members’ club in downtown Manhattan, Roborock’s Saros Z70 prototype initially refused to come out of its room (who among us was not afraid? commercial model. After a few false starts, the arm was released from its cabin, at that time a circular blade approached the twisted sock, sending his arm swinging down to catch it, just like the infernal claw machine game found in the arcades.
As soon as it started, the robot arm picked up several socks. It dropped the painting every now and then but didn’t give up until it was placed in his hands, then it carried everything to one area in the area selected by the brand representative through the mobile app. We were told by the rep that the current version is better at identifying black socks than white.
Although the display is very controlled, the last version of the vac will seek out and remove debris on its own during regular cleaning. During the first scan, the Saros Z70 should perform all its functions and detect and place the objects it can load. In fact, it also circulates to items such as socks, tissues and small towels to reorganize during the second cleaning.
The Saros Z70 can detect 108 different obstacles. Although the list of features OmniGrip can support is limited, more features will be supported in future software updates, according to Roborock’s official release. Those who buy the first generation model can look forward to the OmniGrip remote control without shelling out a lot of dough.
And for those worried about the arm catching an innocent cat or toddler’s hair, Roborock says the arm isn’t strong enough to hurt anything. In that case, the vac includes a child lock and a safety stop button, allowing immediate shutdown in any situation.
There are also pet-friendly features that allow users to check in on their pets, take photos and organize the cruises they want. Vac moves to the side when approaching pets so they don’t scare them.
Although the grasping arm receives a lot of glory, none of its work would be possible without the precision sensors, camera and LED light fixed on the small robot screen, all of which are controlled by Roborock’s next-gen StarSight navigation and object recognition system. .
“Instead of using the traditional LDS (LIDAR) unit for navigation, this system combines dual-mode 3D time-of-flight sensors with RGB cameras powered by AI to determine its location, surroundings and whether the object it is handling is overweight, ” said Roborock in his voice.
In addition to its new features, the Roborock Saros Z70 has the basics of a robovac on the ground. It has 22,000 Pa of strong suction, combined with a dual anti-tangle system, which automatically adjusts to prevent hair from tangling around the vacuum. The two-wheel spinner can lift up to 2.2 centimeters (under an inch), which allows for better airflow and faster drying and prevents the vac from pulling dirt into the clean surface. All of this comes inside the smallest robot on the market measuring just 7.98cm (3.14 inches).
The Saros Z70 will be available later this year, according to a brand spokesperson. Prices have yet to be announced.
