Sheffield Wednesday is prevented from signing players for the transfer fees for the next three windows, as the row over unpaid wages continues.
The Championship Club was hit by a ban on this morning after EFL confirmed that they had missed the payroll deadlines between July 2024 and June 2025.

This means that Wednesday, who ended up at 12 last season. Last season under Danny Rohl, he can’t pay a player’s fee until the window opened in January 2027.
The EFL statement reads: “EFL can confirm that the Sheffield Football Club is Wednesday subject to a limit of three windows after exceeding 30 days of late payments between July 1, 2024 and 30 June 2025.
“In accordance with the EFL regulations, the limit will cover the entire window this summer and two full windows afterwards (Winter 2026 and Summer 2026).
“The club informed EFL of its intention to complain of this decision and will be heard in the near future.
“Separately, on June 3, 2025, EFL issued charges against the club and owner Mr. Dayphon Chansiri in relation to the non -payment of the player’s salary in March 2025 and May 2025.
Although the news was widely expected, it would be a little stifling anger towards Chasiri, who had a fight with running with fans who were desperate desperate to sell the club.
