Jonny Clayton says his partnership with Gerwyn Price for Team Wales will stop the English team from Littler and Luke Humphries’ dreams of Littler and Lukea to win the World Arrow Cup.
After the end of the group stage, the draw for the last 16 will be held on Friday night, as England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland opened offers for titles in Saturday’s second round.
The World No 1 Humphories and World Champion Littler will create a dream partnership for the five -time winners of England, as Littleler debates his long -awaited.
But Clayton and Price aim to lead Wales to the third triumph in pairs after the 2020 and 2023 victory.
“We have a trophy twice and now we want it for the third time,” The Ferret said. “People asked the question of whether he was playing Gezzy or not playing. If Gezzy says he is playing, that’s good enough for me, so that’s all that counts.
“I don’t care that the English world is no. 1 and not 2, we are the Velski guys, we will stop them. We are here to win the trophy. You want to win trophies that you have to beat players with a big name.
“We are both in good shape. Gezzy got out of the Premier League after the final evening and I play neat darts, so we’re ready to leave. We want this trophy.
“All are the headlines of two Lukes, and others have Jonny and Gezzy stop them? Jonny and Gezzy will stop them if we meet them.
“We want to be the World Cup champions. Me and Gezzy clicked well, good days, it’s all rugby.”
Clayton believes that there will be increasing pressure on Littler and Humphries to succeed with a duet that has sealed fame in Frankfurt.
“There is always pressure on the favorites,” said the Welshman. “If the favorites do not perform, then they get it from every corner. Whoever beat it will play very good darts.
“If England stands in front of us, it will have problems.
“They do everything right and you can never knock it out, but the world No. 5 and World No 10 have something to say in a team event. No matter what rank we are, we will all try and do for each other.”
“I hope some history will be made, but I hope Gezzy will be able to share with him what three darts are worth. He could give me Pikad. That will do me well,” Clayton joked.
“If you hit nine Darter, you have to be on the song and I think Gezzy proved that he was in shape by reaching the Premier League final. It will be a Welsh victory.”
Laura Turner and Matt Edgar talked to Emma Paton at the latest issue of Podcasta Darts the Darts about whether Wales could stop English coupling on Humphries and Littler.
“I like their dynamics together,” Turner said. “And they are a proven history and success here, and they continue. If Gerwyn Price is happy and looking forward to happening, then it is suitable to get the best out of it.
“Clayton has been exceptional in the last few months. He has gone through the ranks and now the world is no. 5. That’s another really solid team.”
Edgar added, “Can I push England? Yes, I can. Can I beat England? This is a completely different question.
“They can push England, but I don’t think they won’t cross them.
