Arsenal closes in the agreement to sign Spanish goalkeeper Kep Arizabalaga, according to reports.

Kepa, who was still contracted for Chelsea until next summer, although he did not perform Blues’ appearance of 2023, was at Bournemouth at a seasonal loan, where the 30-year-old impressed for the side of Andoni Irara.

Last season, Kepa scored 35 appearances in all cherry competitions, guarding nine clean leaves.

And Iraila had previously expressed interest in keeping players in the club, but indicated that the final decision had not yet been made.

“I think it’s a matter of negotiations with Kep Is Chelsea,” Iraila said.

“I think both sides are very pleased with his magic of the loan.

“I think he performed very well, and his character and experience were very valuable for us. In a really young team, having someone with his experience to fight for a regular basis was really nice.

“But we still have a net, (Mark) Travers and (Alex) Paulsen, so in the preseason we will see which decisions we make. There will definitely be a change in that position.”
