Chelsea Captain Millie Bright made herself inaccessible to selection for the European championship campaign of England this summer.
The 31-year-old endured a long season with a blues, helping them to a home-made tonne, which resulted in drawing from the team for this month’s matches in the League of Nations.
And she announced this morning that she needed more time to recover, saying that she was unable to “give 100 percent mentally or physically” for three lions while trying to defend the title they won on the domestic soil 2022.

Bright wrote on Instagram: “This is one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make.
“Football has given me so much, and the presentation of my country has always been my biggest honor. My pride and ego tell me to go, but I think team and fans deserve more. I’m not able to give 100 percent mentally or physically at the moment.
“As much as I want to be out through the walls of brick for England and fight with my teammates, going back is the right thing for my health, my future in the game and most importantly the team.”
Bright, who is in the World Cup final 2023 in the 2023 finals and has 88 caps, added: “It would not be fair to take away the place and the opportunity beyond another player who is ready to give everything for the badge and the country.
“I will support the team with everything I have, and hoping that this amazing group of players will make a nation proud. Thanks to my teammates, coaches and, most importantly, fans for your unwavering support.
“That means the world to me.”
Bright would be an entrance to the EUR 23 players, which should be released tomorrow by Sarina Wiegman.
Her withdrawal is another Wiegman headache who saw the experienced goalkeeper Mary Earps and the Fran Kirby player announce their international pension during last week.
