No Apple TV Plus? No Worries: You Can Download It For Free On Weekends

For anyone who hasn’t seen Apple originals like Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Severance and The Morning Show, you might want to rethink your weekend plans.

The company announced Monday that it is offering free streaming of its original series and movies on Apple TV Plus Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 4 and Jan. 5, without registration required. In a message shared on the X social network, the Apple TV Plus account said: “Saturday is this week, see for yourself.”

It is possible that Apple’s “weekend” may start early. The opposite press release from Apple Monday gives days like Jan. 3-5 (although the next video says Jan. 4-5). So it looks like the free shows will start sometime on Friday, probably late in the afternoon.

This followed a series of old records which encouraged people to “save the date” and “stay alert” about the same dates.

The move is likely part of an effort to attract more subscribers advertising platform the market is still full of competitors including NetflixPrime, Hulu, Peacock and Max. Industrial managers for months have been predict shock and including about advertising options.

Although Apple has never offered a full launch week for Apple TV Plus in the past, it sometimes offers free downloads of selected content, such as the first episodes of original series.

The company is also promoting a free seven-day trial for new subscribers, as well as an extended trial with the purchase of certain hardware products. Subscriptions start at $10 per month.

Apple may be teasing promotions ahead of new displays. It revealed its 2024 list in early February.
