Is that the end of Josh Taylor’s career?

Carl Frampton believes Josh Taylor will decide not to fight anymore after he lost to Eco Essuman on Saturday night at SSE Hydro in Glasgow in an upset 12 round loss. This was Taylor’s third consecutive defeat, which was the struggle that expected to win. The results were 116-112, 116-113 and 115-113.

Essuman (22-1, 8 ko) is far from elite or even a fighter at A level A, but he was too well convinced of 34-year-old Taylor (19-3, 12 Kos). The loss of this fighter level was a bitter pill for the former undisputed world champion in the Welters who swallowed Taylor. He looked depressed when the results were announced because he knew what the results meant for his career.

Frampton doubts Taylor’s return

“I don’t think so. This guy was an elite elite, and he was a superstar. Clearly he’s not a fighter as he used to Dazn box When asked if Josh Taylor can ever be fought after losing to Ecowa Essuman on Saturday night in Glasgow.

The problem is not just that Taylor lost a lot from her game. This is more the case that he has never been overrated to begin. If you look at his best victories, he did not beat extraordinary fighters from 2017 to 2022. Taylor’s best victories were against these fighters during that five -year period:

– Jack Catterall
– King of the program
– Jose Ramirez
– Ivan Baranchyk
– Victor podium
– Miguel Vazquez

“It depends on what his dreams and ambitions are. I think it was to become a world champion in two weights. But on such a performance, I don’t think that’s possible.”

Taylor’s only chance to become a world champion in two weights is if he gets a title title against the WBC WBC winner winner Mario Barrios and Manny Pacquiao. This is not probably after Josh’s loss of Essuman. In order for Taylor to get the title, she must return and beat someone well.

Taylor’s engine works empty

“He had the first couple of rounds, and that’s it,” said commentator Ade Oladipo about Taylor looked good in the first two or three rounds against Economics and then quickly faded. “He looked sharp, he looked really good. That southern Pope landed, and then the engine seemed empty very, very quickly,” Ade said about Josh.

In Taylor’s past struggles, he did not show problems with his endurance. However, he was from the ring for a year since his loss of Jack Catteralla in May 2024, and he only fought four times since 2021. Being inactive in a long period may have been to count in Taylor. That’s his fault. If Josh remained active, fighting three times a year since 2021, he probably wouldn’t have had this question.

“It was like a 2-liter engine against 1.6,” said Darren Barker, saying that Essuman had more energy than the tired Taylor. “It was an engine that started to fade. For Taylor, it was a good start.”

The strange thing is that Essuman looked slow, as if he had not consumed any energy at the pace in which he fought. However, he only calmly attacked Taylor, occasionally landing big shots and that knocked him down. Taylor did not like to be hit by heavy shots from Essean.

“He was in a good groove, showing a real fire and such a kind of will to win which we used to see from Taylor. But as that fight progressed, this man (Essuman), I would not say overwhelmed, but surpassed Taylor. Three or four shots for every Taylor’s,” Barker said.

Ekow landed heavier shots and landed on strong blows to his body when Taylor fought in close districts, trying to hold on.
