Liverpool have inquired about the situation surrounding Barcelona midfielder Gavi. According to Catalan newspaper Nacional, the Reds want to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield.
He seems to have fallen into the first row at the Camp Nou under Hansi Flick. The German appears to prefer teenager Marco Casado and Pedri in a double pivot, leaving Gavi to be relegated to an option mostly used from the bench. He made 12 appearances this season, but only found 241 minutes of action.
He therefore emerged as a possible transfer option for a number of clubs including Liverpool. His contract expires in the summer of 2026. Given that the report states that there have been no talks between the player and the club about extending his stay, he could find a way out for a relatively cheap price.
Gavi intends to stay in the Barcelonahoping to impress the manager and win his place. However, if he decides to leave, the Reds want to add him to the team. The report suggests that manager Arne Slot holds him in high regard and the club could offer him a hefty salary to make him one of the most prized players.
The 20-year-old would join a talented midfield that includes Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones.
Barcelona are monitoring the Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, La Blaugrana want to add the 27-year-old striker to their ranks.
However, the Colombian is expected to stay at Anfield. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027, but the Reds want to extend it soon.
The contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are likely to be a higher priority for Liverpool as they are set to be free agents this coming summer. After this, they could try to tie down the Colombian who has been a vital part of Arne Slot’s attack this season.
Diaz has been used both on the left wing and up top, scoring nine goals and making three assists in 22 games in all competitions.
He could be a key addition to Barcelona who have been looking for Nico Williams to play on the left side of the attack. While Raphinha has proved to be a revelation under Hansi Flick, the arrival of another experienced striker could be beneficial for the Blaugrana.
