The Committee for Crown control in India (BCCI) officially announced the temporary suspension of the season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the Indian League (IPL), stating the escalating tension of the borders between India and Pakistan. In a media statement published on May 9, BCCI explained that the suspension would be in effect for a week, while further estimates were done

The decision is followed by a high level of top-notch BCCI leadership, during which different measures of extraordinary states are considered, pointing out the potential change of the tournament site. Finally, the IPL Governing Council decided to temporarily stop the procedure, setting the safety and interests of the players, staff, emitters, sponsors and fans in the first place.

The committee emphasized that, although it maintains complete confidence in the willingness and abilities of Indian armed forces, the prudence dictated the break of the tournament in the light of growing worries that have expressed more franchises, players, emoters and sponsors.
The suspension comes shortly after the match between Punjab Kingsi Delhi Capitals is scheduled to Dharamsali on May 8th. Increased discomfort among foreign players and logistical challenges over the trip have further agreed to have an urgency to take a quick action. Providing a safe movement of all IPL stakeholders – including teams, players, aired crew and other league staff – was a major priority. According to sources, discrete arrangements are carried out for the transportation of those involved from Dharamsala to New Delhi, and the exact details of the trip have been retained to ensure safety.
Speaking of an evolutionary situation, IPL President Arun Dhumal stated“We are questioning the situation. This develops and we have not yet received a directive from the Government. Each decision will be made in mind all the logistical considerations and the best interests of the stakeholders.”
Although the official suspension period is currently a week, the time line for continuation will greatly depend on how the geopolitical situation takes place in the coming days and whether the security issues of the players – especially those from abroad can be resolved.
