They took the lead in the 16th minute when Raul Jimenez’s header turned out to be too strong for Mark Flekken, only that Bryan Mbuemo replied with a smart end to the corner of the lower right six minutes later.
Mbuemo missed the opportunity to do it 2-1 from a penalty kick, as Bernd Leno rejected him in the 28th minute after Joachim Andersen knocked down Kevin Schade, but Brentford took the lead two minutes before the burglary through the Yoane Wissa touched.
But two goals in the space of the sluggish spell of the second half sealed her for Fulham, a fine head of Tom Cairney, followed by a beautiful Harry Wilson shot to move Fulham’s point behind Brentford.
Brighton and Hove Albion face Liverpool on Monday, and Bournemouth is visited by Manchester City on Tuesday, and both sides have the opportunity to skip Brentford on the eve of the last day of next Sunday.
