After losing Conor Benna from the middleweight of Chris Eubank JR. last April, IBF placed Benn on #5 on their 154-LIP ladder. This is a strange move given that Benn’s defeat was 160. He is expected to fight Rovens with Eubank Jr. in September, and then returned to the £ 147 division.
Fans on social networks see this as a joke because Benn should not be on the medium weight ladder after loss.
Even with 147, it is questionable if Conor deserves to be ranked in the Top 15, because his best career victory at Welterweight was against 37-year-old Chris Algieri 2021. It’s been many years ago, and Benn struggled with a hit fossil.
AND IBF Did Benn (23-1, 14 ko) occupy high quality competitors who would very likely beat him far easier than his best, Eubank Jr. Five candidates on the IBF ladder would be a nightmare for Conor Benn, if he got tangled with them, especially Jorge Perez and Serhii Bohachuk.
5 Conor Benn
7 Jesus Ramos
8 Serhii Bohachuk
9 Jorge Garcia Perez
10 Keith Thurman
15 Charles Conwell
Can you imagine Benn fighting the former WBC temporary champion of 154 kilograms of Bohachuk? That would end badly for Benn because Bohachuk would break the holes through him when he warmed up. There is no way that Conor would do the distance with Bohachuk or Jorge Perez. The other guys on that list would be too talented for him.
Benn looked decent, losing 35-year-old Eubank Jr. April 26, but he did not fight one of the top medium weights. If it were Janibek Alimkhnuly, Erislandy Lara, Carlos Adames or Yenli Hernandez, he would be fortunate to have succeeded in the sixth round. These guys are a true world class, not at the domestic level like Eubank Jr.
“What we heard is Benn-Eubank Jr. at the end of September in the Spurs. This was published by his Extrak (Turki Alalshikh),” said Eddie Hearn to IFL TV About the rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conora Benna. “This is what we had somehow in our heads, what we are getting ready, and we will see over the next few weeks that materialize.
“When Eubank has moved to hydration, he had all the clothes, and underneath he was half a pound. So, he would be two and a half pounds, three pounds to spare the rehydration. Some people say,” That was awful, “said Eubank JR. she had to arrange a 10 LB revision.
Benn’s handicap
Eubank Jr. He looked half dead in weighing, then dealt with on the day of the fight with a double Whammy rehydantic 10 -pound clause. You take away a handicap for Benn and Eubank Jr. he would wipe the deck with him. He did it anyway, even drying out bits. Benn was close to knocking him out at 11th and 12th rounds. It was a punching bag for EUBANK JR. in those last two circles.
“We don’t want Conor Benn to fight a guy who is £ 20 lbs up to £ 25 bigger than him in the ring,” Hearn said. “As Conor Benn becomes older and moving through the divisions, 100% will fight at the age of 154. I think he will fight at 160, but who knows? He has just been dealing with a great fight at 160.”
Notice the pronunciations from Hearna? I wish he just admitted that Benn needed special help to give him the opportunity, because he had no chance that he could have had the opportunity against Eubank Jr. -uu full power. He had to be at 60% for Benn to have a shot.
“I think if we don’t make a rematch in September, it may be going to pass us because I think Eubank will not be so long,” Hearn said.
