Carlo Ancelotti is “the greatest coach in history,” Brazil say

Carlo Ancelotti was named “the greatest coach in history” after he agreed to leave Real Madrid and manage Brazil through the 2026 World Cup.

Acelotti, 65, will take responsibility on May 25 after the end of the Real season, and is expected to appoint its first composition only 24 hours later.

His first matches are qualifying for the World Cup against Ecuador and Paraguay in June.

“Bringing Carl Ancelotti to Coach Brazil is more than a strategic movement. The statement is that we are determined to regain the top of the podium,” said CBF President Eddnaldo Rodrigues.

“He is the biggest coach in history and will now be with the biggest national team on the planet. We will write new famous chapters of Brazilian football together.”

CBF added that “Ancelotti begins his mission this week” at meetings with the General Coordinator Rodrig Caetan and former defender Juan, the technical coordinator of the Confederation, so he can choose his detachment.

Brazil is fourth in the South American qualification for the World Cup.

Ancelotti is moving to international management after winning the title in Italy, England, Spain, France and Germany.

He led Milan to the Champions League trophy in 2003 and 2007 and added three more titles with Real Madrid in 2014, 2022 and last year.
