Carlo Ancelotti marked Xabi Alonso “One of the Best in the World” in the midst of a report that he will be replaced by Bayer Leverkusen’s departure coach as Real Madrid manager next season.
On the eve of Crunch El Clasico on Sunday – a showdown with Barcelona, which could ultimately shape the La Liga – Ancelotti race race was very commendable from the new Spanish coach, at the same time expressing deep affection for Los Blancos.
But the 65-year-old, who lit this term after the defeat in the Copa del Rey final and elimination from the Champions League in the quarterfinal phase, remained tight in his future.
‘Don Carlo’, the most successful coach in the history of the European elite club competition, spent six years in Bernabeu through two spells, but recent reports claimed that Italian would step down to take over the position of main coach Brazil on the eve of the World Cup final next summer.
Alonso, the winner of the Champions League with Real as a player Leverkusen led to the undefeated Bundesliga title in his first season as a coach, confirmed that he would leave the German side this week, which encouraged the speculation that the 43-year-old could be sent to the Spanish capital next season.

“I read that he (Alonso) leaves Bayer Leverkusen,” Ancelotti said.
“He did an incredible job and opened the door for him because he showed that he was one of the best in the world.”
Despite his high praise, the head of Madrid stopped confirming his own plans, deciding to talk about his affinity to the club instead.
He said, “With this club, Medeni’s moon never ends. Real Madrid, like (AC) Milan before them, are clubs that remain in my heart during the time I was here and for ties.
“When the pressure is reduced, affection rises. The honeymoon with Madrid will last until the last day of my life.”
Accelotti confirmed that the striker Rodrygo had returned to training and was arguing against Barcelona.

Real is currently following her Catalan rivals for four points in the table, with four matches remaining.
They lost all three meetings between the two sides this season, delivering 12 goals and scoring only four in the process.
The defeat for Ancelotti’s men would almost certainly hand over the title of Hans Flick’s side, but Madrid manager insisted that his players were full of confidence.
“The team goes well, focused on what we have to do and excite,” Ancelotti added.
“We have a lot in question. We are convinced we can achieve this. The matches against Barcelona are difficult, but we are convinced we can win.”
