The Oakes founded the Grand Prix Hitech 2015, and the British suit led the Single 2 championship, including Formula 2 and Formula 3. British is a former racing driver and won the 2005 Karting World Carting Title.

He took over from Otmar Szafnauer as the Director of the Alpine Team in August 2024 and saw a spectacular dual pedestal for Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly in Brazil later that year.

He was banned from F1 for his involvement in the incident, but this was canceled by the French court.

The 75-year-old returned to F1 in May 2024 as an executive advisor of the Alpine.

Why did Oakes resign?

Sky Sports’ Nigel Chiu:

“This is probably returned to the uncertain future of Jack Doohan. So far, the 22-year-old has had a heavy campaign of Rokie on Alpine, including two large collisions in Australia and Japan, and then an extraordinary anger at the last race in Miami, when he was knocked out in the first part of the Sprint qualifying.

“Doohan entered the season under great pressure to sign Franco Colapint as an alpine reserve driver. However, Doohan seemed to support Oliver Oakes.

“When Alpine signed Colapino, Flavio Briatore described the Argentine as” among the best young talents in Motport “and obviously his fan.

“Maybe Biatore and Oakes have clashed over who should ride along with Pierre Gasly this season, and Biatora won the battle if this news is anything, which has led to Oakes’ resignation shock.”
