The second match of the 2024-25 Super Smash season will see Otago play Canterbury. The game is due to be played on Friday (December 27) at Molyneux Park, Alexandra.
Both teams will be looking for a win in the upcoming game to get their season off to a good start. Otago had a disappointing campaign last season as they failed to qualify for the finals after finishing fifth in the points table. They managed to win only 2 of their 10 games.
On the other hand, Canterbury finished second in the points table after winning 5 out of 10 league games. They also qualified for the finals, but rain ruined their hopes of winning the trophy. Canterbury were on 133/2 in the 15th over at Eden Park when rain brought proceedings to a premature end.
In the end, Auckland was declared the winner as they finished the league stage at the top of the points table. Canterbury will be looking at another good season and will want to go all the way this season.
