Indian selectors have lived in a shortlist of a group of 35 players who could be part of India and the team for the upcoming England tour. This tour is seen as a preparation for an important test series with five matches against England, which will also be the beginning of the Indian cycle of the new World Cup Championship (WTC).
The tour is planned to begin about a week after the conclusion of the current IPL 2025, and the finals are scheduled on May 27. According to the TOI report, the Test and Captain Odra -a Rohit Sharma is expected to travel with India A team.

The source of BCCI revealed: “Rohit will most likely travel because the Committee considers that a strong captain is needed through the series, which is likely to be as hard as the tour in Australia.”
Meanwhile, national selectors reportedly do not have much faith in Sarfaraz Khan. Instead, they are likely to give the opportunity or the rajata Patidar or Karun nair in a games.
The source added: “On the middle order, the team administration has shown very little confidence in the ability of the Khan sarfarasis. Nair and Patidar are experienced players of the Red Ball and in a good form. It will probably be at least one of them in India team.”
Shreyas Iyer’s Test Future in Limbo !!
On the other hand, BCCI has not yet opted for the return of Shreyas Iyer to the test team. He last played a test in February 2024 against England and was later left from the central contract and test composition to ignore the home games with the paint in Mumbai.

The source added: “As far as Iyer is concerned, it was rejected last year based on bad returns in the test crice.
