NHL chief coach Mike Sullivan and Pittsburgh Ponguins He agreed to separate each other on Monday, ending his mandate with the team.
Sullivan was promoted from the Ponguins AHL branch to the main coaching gig in December 2015. Since then, Sullivan has led pens to Stanley Cup back in 2016 and 2017, scoring 409 wins on the way.
Since Sullivan is no longer at the forefront of Pittsburgh, the list of major NHL coaches with the longest-runningers has now moved.

#5 Martin St. Louis, Montreal Canadiens

#4 André Tourigny, Utah Hockey Club
André Tourigny was technically the main coach of the NHL for two different franchises. Tourignny was hired in July 2021 to lead cojotes in Arizona. Since then, Tourigny has become the head coach of the Utah hockey club.
Utah had a strong introductory season, but failed to play in a very competitive central division. The hope is that the young core can continue to mature in the playoffs for the years to come.
#3 Rod Brind’amour, Carolina Hurricane
Rod Brind’amour took over the helm for Hurricane Carolina in May 2018. He led Hurricanes to multiple playoffs, but failed to get over the playoffs.
Last season, New York Rangers surpassed hurricanes in the second round. Canes look good this season by taking the 3-1 series on New Jersey Devils. Fans hope that this season could be the year when hurricanes break through at the eastern conference.
#2 Jared Bednar, Colorado Avalanche
Jared Bednar took over Colorado avalanche The main coaching job in August 2016. After the departure of Patrick Roy. Since then, Bednar turned the team in the last place in Stanley Cup in the last place.
Bednar trained in 700 games, winning a record of 390-246-64, which made him a winning coach in the team history (since the team moved in 1995).
