Andrew Flintoff says he “slowly arrives there” and that he is “probably in a better place” after living a car accident to change his life, which he thought had killed him.
The former Captain of the Cricket in England suffered a serious accident as he recorded for Top Gear 2022, which made him withstanding great injuries to his face.
He talks about the incident in the Disney+ documentary ‘Flintoff’, which was released on Friday, entering into details of the immediate after and how he struggled to cope with relegation.
The 47-year-old, who now trains the English lions, says in the show, “I thought I was dead because I was aware, but I couldn’t see anything. I thought,” Is that? “
“After the accident, I didn’t think I had in myself to pass. This sounds awful … Part of me wants to be killed. Part of me think, I wish I had died.
“I didn’t want to kill myself … I wouldn’t make a mistake two things. I didn’t want to, I just thought,” This would be much easier. “
“Now I’m trying to take the attitude that the sun will come tomorrow and my kids will still hug me. I’m probably in a better place.
“I think I’ll never be better … Now just different. I’m slowly getting there.”
Flintoff also trained a hundred teams of northern Supercharger since his accident, and wife Rachael said, “I think the cricket saved him. That gave him a reason to be again.”
The documentary appears the surgeon Jahrad Haq, who describes Flintof’s injury as one of the five worst to which he has encountered in 20 years.
Flintoff says, “I remember my head hit, I pulled. I crossed over the back of the car and that pulled my face down on the runway, about 50 meters, under the car.
“My biggest fear was, I didn’t think I had my face. I thought my face collapsed. I was scared to death.
“Even the memories of this are real, to the extent that I am now talking about it and becoming a little shaking and I feel pain on my face.
“I can feel like a phantom pain. It’s really a little curse.”
The BBC “resting” the upper equipment in the foreseeable future in 2023 after a financial settlement, allegedly worth around £ 9 million, reached with Flintoff.
