The Indian women’s cricket team is in full swing in the ongoing white-ball series against the West Indies at home. After winning the T20I series, the Indian women continued their dominance in the ongoing three-match ODI series against the West Indies women’s cricket team.
India Women won the first ODI by 211 runs and now look to extend their dominance in the ongoing second ODI against West Indies Women at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, December 24. The ongoing ODI series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship.
Talking about the second ODI in Vadodara, Indian women cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bat first against West Indies Women and her knocks did not disappoint. India managed to post a record total of 358/5 in their 50 overs in the ongoing second ODI.
Indian openers Smriti Mandhan and Pratika Rawal gave the Indian women a great start as they added 110 runs in 99 balls before the senior batsman was run out by Karishma Ramharack for 53 runs off 47 balls, studded with seven boundaries and two sixes against the West Indies.
Then Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol joined hands for another partnership of 62 runs from 75 balls to set a solid stage for the middle order before Zaida James left the India Women opener for a stunning 76 runs from 86 balls, interspersed with ten limits and one maximum.
Well, Harleen Deol continued the scoring and added 43 runs for the third wicket with captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, who lost to Afy Fletcher for just 22 runs in the ongoing second ODI against West Indies. Meanwhile, it was time for Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol to perform.
The duo put together a remarkable fourth wicket partnership of 116 runs off 71 balls to ensure that India Women put up a challenging total on the board against Caribbean Women. While Jemimah Rodrigues (52) fell to Deantra Dottin after reaching her fifty, Harleen Deol went on to smoke an incredible century but Qiana Joseph cut her innings short with 115 off 123 balls.
Harleen Deol smashed 16 boundaries during her masterclass against West Indies in the ongoing second ODI at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. Later, Rich Gosh (13*) and Deepti Sharma (4*) added an unbeaten 17 runs off 10 balls to take India to 358/5 on the board against the West Indies.
It was India’s highest women’s total in ODI cricket. Additionally, the Indian women’s cricket team is rewriting the record books with an incredible display of batting dominance in 2024. India Women have scored three mammoth 300+ scores in ODI cricket this year, surpassing their previous best of two 300+ scores in 2022.
Adding another feather to their cap, the Indian women’s team also crossed the 200-run mark in ODIs twice this year, a milestone they have failed to achieve in their history. Currently, India are looking for another big win over West Indies, after claiming three wickets for just 40 runs.
