Manchester United is at the center of the controversy of the field growing after a former Nemanja Matic midfielder shot back to Andre Onan on the eve of the Europa League quarterfinals against Lyon.
Now, with Ligue 1 side, Matic has taken a problem with recent remarks of onana, who suggested that United are “far better” than his French opponents.
The Serbian veteran midfielder, who appeared in 189 for United between 2017 and 2022, did not stay when he answered in his media duties.

Matic called into question the authority of onan to make such comparisons, pointing out that only iconic united goalkeepers like Edwin Van der Sar, Peter Schmeichel or David De Gea earned the right to make a brave statement of the club status.
He went even further, implying that onana is one of the worst goalkeepers in the history of United-Ostra criticism of a 36-year-old midfielder.

“You know, I respect everything, but to say that then you need to answer.
“If you are one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United history, you have to take care of what you are talking about.
“If it was (Edwin) van der Sar, (Peter) Schmeichel or (David) de Gea, he said that, then I would question yourself. But you have to have a cover to say something like that.”

Onana bites with the bragging of silver dishes
Cameroon’s goalkeeper answered quickly Xdenying any intention not to respect Lyon. Onana explained that his words were misinterpreted and acknowledged Lyon’s quality, stating that United prepares for a difficult relationship.
He also took the opportunity to highlight his contributions at Old Trafford, pointing out that he had already abolished silver accessories with the club – something that he meant that he could not all claim, digging into Matica, who had never won silver accessories with red devils.

The word war only adds tension ahead of what is already a key showdown. Since United Langing is in the middle of the Premier League table, the Europa League represents its best opportunity to save the disappointing season under Ruban Amorim.
For Matic, this tie represents a return with something for proof. During his five years in United, he was a reliable presence in the middle of the field. Now he brings that same ride as he wants to influence Lyon against his former club.
