Ruben Amorim played a splash between Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onan and former Nemanja Matic player after calling a Cameroum internationary “one of the worst goalkeepers in Manchester United.”
The order broke out on the eve of the quarter -final conflict of the first leg of Europe between United and Lyon after the remarks he had stated, which suggested that his side were “much better” than their opponents of Ligue 1.
This encouraged Lyon Matica midfielder, who played for the Red Devils between 2017 and 2022, to return the 29-year-old, who at the time responded in turn to X digging in the Serbian trophy time on Old Trafford.
I would never be undisturbed to another club. We know that tomorrow will be a tough game against a strong opponent.
We are focused on preparing the performance so that our fans are proud.
At least I raised trophies with the biggest club in the world. Some can’t say the same. pic.twitter.com/3easlriz3d

But on the eve of the game, Amorim, who confirmed that onana would start in the goal, refused to draw in an exchanging of inconvenience, insisting that he was derived from the misunderstanding.
“If you see a complete quote Andre Onana, that’s completely different,” said the head of the United States.
“The first sentence is that” Lyon is a very, very good team. “Sometimes players don’t listen to full quotes and that’s just a misunderstanding. I know (Nemanja) Matic, he’s a great guy, so tomorrow he’ll be a normal game.
“Again, if you look at all the quotes, you can’t see disrespect there, just respect. But to show confidence of his team.
“Everyone is talking about bad things about Manchester United this year. Someone has to show confidence in our team. I know that Nemanja Matic is really good and how good a guy is. I think he heard things in half.”
United’s trip to France will also see the return of Kobbie Mainoo to the team after a two -month absence with muscle injury.
While Amorim emphasized the quality of the young midfielder, he admitted that there was still room for progress.
I said, “When I see Kobbie, I see a lot of talent. But the way I see it, I could go wrong.
“I see some things that Kobbie has to improve: his pace in the game. He has to improve in the accumulation. There is a lot of talent near the frame, which is why I think he made a really good game in the Europa League in that position. But I don’t see a full player at the moment; he is 19 years old. If I say I don’t know.”
Asked about the importance of winning the European League, Amorim added: “This is really important in all aspects. The first is to win the title, the European title. It will be nice for our confidence. Then it is to play in the Champions League in our club completely different; the environment, the way we will face the summer, everything is related to this competition.
“We know that pressure, but again, this is not the biggest problem in United. We have other forces to get it the right way without the Champions League next year.”
