‘Turning gold into shit’ – postecoglou admits that everything around Tottenham is negative in front of the Europa League quarterfinals

Ange Postecoglou was in less than a patient’s mood ahead of the Europa League Tottenham conflict with the Frankfurt on Thursday.

The Spurs’s draw campaign on Sunday scored a slight victory with a 3-1 win over Southampton and are now preparing for the biggest match of their season.

However, the Australian main coach appeared the same silly questions asked during his press conference ahead of the quarterfinal first leg, including one of the last seconds of Spurs’s sentence against Saints.

Brennan Johnson seemed to be eager for a shot after he had already prepared a bracelet in the game, but he was taken away by Mathys Tel for a moment, who did not make a mistake and hit his first Premier League goal since he crossed Bayern Munich.

Asked about the incident, Postecoglou said, “We scored, we won. It’s delighted. It’s amazing, it’s just … literally turning gold into shit when Tottenham is serious. If we will be 2-1 tomorrow night and get a punishment at the last minute, I want the best punishment to take over it.

“Well, the winner’s mentality in the last minute of the game is to score a goal. We scored a goal. Still, somehow in this top universe in which Tottenham makes everything wrong, that came out as a negative.”

Once again, Postecoglou then asked about his future as the main coach of Tottenham, to which he sighed before he gave an answer.

He added: “I came to this club with a clear purpose and vision of what the club needed and what I could offer. It is to change the way the team plays, obviously rejuvenate the team because it was a team that came to the end of the cycle and bring success.

“As long as I am in this position, it is always my focus, no matter what the noise or what can be or not in the future.

“Everything you achieve in life usually comes with a struggle. Certainly everything I have achieved in my life came with a professional perspective. This is just another fight, but I have never lost the will through this fight to fight for what I think is the right thing and I will continue to do it.”

Reports suggest that he should receive a Postecoglou League of Europe, may be given more time at his current position. However, as little as possible, he would probably see him losing his job.

He continued: “We are in this position that good things we could turn into a glass half full rhetoric and from that perspective I don’t think it can be a driver in what we want to do.

“The guys really wanted to bring success to the club, continue to drive the principles of what we started all this trip, in terms of football we want to play, they really stick together as they have the most difficult periods, and we hope that we have embarked on a position where we can influence our season, a truly disappointing season for us.

“I just think there is a real determination to take advantage of the opportunity they have earned at the moment.”
