Tiger Woods will design a new short course with nine holes near Masters as part of a new partnership from Augusta National Golf Club.
Augusta National and Woods TGr Design architecture company will create a new course as part of the renewal of the Municipal Golf Terrain Augustus, usually known as “Patch”, located four miles away from the Master’s home.
The short course will be near the Augusta Municipal Golf Terrain at 18 hole, currently renewing that Fazio and Beau Welling, and is expected to open on the eve of the master next April.
Woods was not present at Nacional Augustus for announcement on Monday, as he still recovers from surgery after cracking his Achilles tendon last month, but appeared on a video link to think about an exciting partnership.

“The partnership with the National Golf Club Augustus to serve the surrounding community is really special,” Woods said. “My passion for education and golf dates back to a long time, as is my relationship with Augusta National and the City of Augustus.
“This is a transformation opportunity to strengthen the next generation and provide a meaningful educational program and access to a fun and affordable golf. I’m excited to work with Augusta National and see both projects become reality.”
In addition, Woods’ TGR Foundation, it will build a TGR Laboratory for learning in Augustus, Georgia, which will provide access to science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (Steam) education and opportunities for young people.
Fred Ridley, president of the Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament, said that a partnership with the former World No 1 would help enrich the access to a high quality educational program and an affordable golf in August.
“Today’s announcements mark an important turning point for Augustus and deepen the relationship our community has with one of our greatest champions masters, Tiger Woods,” Ridley said.
