Punjab Kings (PBKS) Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal spoke about the challenge of dealing with Mrs. Dhoni on the eve of the upcoming conflict with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. Chahal said he could only speculate a small fraction – about 2 or 3 percent – what CSK is thinking about playing years.
Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings should face Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 8th. The CSK, who fights for the form, will go to the match with only one win from their first four games. On the other hand, a team led by Shreyas Iyer began more powerful and secured two victories from three matches.
On the eve of the Battle between the PBKS CSK, Yuzvendra Chahal said that Mrs. Dhoni was knowing her game well, watching it behind the stumps for years. However, Chahal admitted that he could barely predict Dhoni’s mindset.
“Mahi Bhai has been watching me for years as I buy behind the stumps. He knows how I buy, what I think and what I am probably doing. I can read – maybe 2 or 3 percent – what Mahi Bhai thinks. I know what situations he enters in bats,” Chahal said (via toi).
“If it goes between crossing 1–10, we know we have to attack. But if it comes in the later stages of the match, we understand exactly what he will try to do. We plan to give him a light ball – if you do, he will send it out of the park,” he added.
Yuzvendra Chahal ended his international debut under Mrs. Dhoni’s captain during the 2016 Zimbabwe Indian tour. Both players started the challenging start of the IPL 2025 season. Chahal, represented by Punjab, took only one Wickket in three games on average 102 and an economy of 10.20.
Dhoni faced criticism for his limited impact with the Chennai Super Kings baton. He scored 76 runs at the foot of the 138.18 strike and was only discharged once. Chennai Super Kings also fought, as the team has now suffered three direct defeats after their introductory victory against the Mumbaman Indians.
In the same interview, Yuzvendra Chahal praised the skipper of Punjaba Kings Shreyas Iyer for her calm and affordable style of leadership. Chahal shared that Iyer gives players freedom to express themselves and remain composed even under pressure.
“I know that Shreyas very good-on is my good friend. Gives you a lot of freedom. You can approach him at any time. He is very calm. It’s not like the opposition is running, he will be panicked. He is all open, he is very open, and I’m really enjoying playing under his captain.
