Top 5 landing spaces for Mountain West DPoy FT. UNC

The transmission portal is open and San Diego State loses one of his key starters. Magoon Gwath enters the portal after the dominant first season in which he was named the Mountain West defense player of the year.

Gwath was in high school, but he succeeded this year after starting his college career with a red shirt season. The attacker made 26 starts for SDSA this season, an average of 25.0 minutes on the field. He led Aztec in jumps, with 5.2 per game and blocks, with 2.6. Gwath added 8.5 points and hit 50.6%.

The young star will probably head to the Power Four program, where he can develop his skill set and perform on a larger stage. Let’s look at some of Gwatha’s possible fit.

Top 5 landing spaces for Magoon Gwath

#1, North Carolina Tar Heels

What a full circle this would be. Gwath’s Aztecs lost to Tar Heels in the first four games of this season. Now the attacker could find his new home in North Carolina.

Unc, who fell on Ole Miss in the 64th round, was a small team this season. Gwath could help it, because the freshman stands at 7 feet. Katrane was fighting in depth and defense this year in the first place. Gwath, which set up a 3.4 defense jump, 2.6 blocks and 0.4 stolen balls, could be a valuable pikap for northern Caroline.

Unc coach Hubert Davis had to look at Gwatha well in the first four matches, and the young striker could fit well with the blue blood.

#2, Purdue boiler manufacturers

Purdue already has a star forward in Treyu Kaufman-Renna, which is an average of 20.3 PPG and 6.5 RPG this season. However, Kaufman -renn is not a significant defense contribution, and boilers manufacturers are fighting defensively.

Gwath could play power forward while Kaufman-Renn plays the center. This would create a defensive depth for boiler producers, something they need to stay competitive.

This season, boilers manufacturers are the number 4 seeds in March and are in the sweet 16th last season, Purdue was the winner of the NCAA tournament. As the team looks forward next season, it must provide a solid defensive player who can contribute several seasons. Gwath could be a Purdue type.

#3., Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame Star striker Tae Davis announced that he would get into the transfer portal. Davis set up 15.1 PPG and 5.3 RPG this season, and his absence leaves a great gap in the list of Notre Dame.

Fighting Irish fought late. They left 15-18 this season and did not make a performance at the NCAA tournament since 2022. Notre ladies need a solid striker who can take Davis’s place while the team tries to become a post -season candidate.

Gwaths 8.5 PPG are nowhere near Davis 15.1, but the two have almost identical rejection values. Aztecs star could also provide the defensive depth Davis missing. It is important to note that Gwath is just coming out of his first season and could reach Davis’s scoring level. Last season alone, Davis only achieved 9.2 pg on average.

#4, Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas is another blue blood that could become Gwath’s new home. Jayhawks will renew this off -season after they have lost several of the best stars, including KJ Adams Jr.

Adams has served as a star for the last four seasons for Kansas. It contributed 9.4 ppg and 5.0 RPG, similar to the stature of Gwath. Adams is a slightly better scorer than Gwatha, but the State of the State San Diego could give Kansas a 3 -point crack and solid blocking, two things Adams misses.

#5, Clemson Tigers

Clemson is another team that will be without a star next season. Ian Schieffelin has no eligibility, and the tigers could go on a transfer portal to find his replacement,

Schieffelin is an expert in jumping, on average NCAA 18. Best 9.4 per game. Gwath is a wonderful jump, sets 5.2, but if Clemson is looking for an attacker who can be a game change through recovery, this may not be perfect in accordance with.

However, Gwath shoots better than Schieffelina from the field and from the range of 3 points and has the potential to reach a similar point average as well as 12.4 Clemson Star points per game.
