England continued its perfect start to the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign under Thomas Tuchel 3-0 over Latvia at Wembley Stadium.
The goals of Reece James, Harry Kane and Eberechi eze have ensured that three lions scored two wins from two in the K.
The hosts controlled from the beginning, although it took 38 minutes to break the resistant defense of Latvia.
Early dominance of England almost counted anything when Vladislavs Guskovski swallowed the golden opportunity to put visitors forward, not managing to use the measurement between Jordan Pickford and Marc Guehi.
This lady turned out to be expensive because Chelsea’s defender Reece James began his first start for England since 2022, opened the scoring of a stunning free kick from 25 meters.
His effort in Curling left Latvia goalkeeper Rihards Zviedris rooted in place, finding the upper right corner with his strike.
James’ goal marked the first goal for freedom in England at Wembley from John Barnes’s hit against the Netherlands in 1993.
Despite its dominance, England has taken a break with only one goal. Tuchel’s side controlled possession and territory, but struggled to turn his superiority into a clear chance in the first half.
The second half followed a similar pattern, and England dictated the game, and Latvia struggles to break out of its defense form.

The second goal of England finally arrived in the 68th minute, the kindness of a good procedure involving Declan Rice and Harry Kane. Rice, who now provided assistance in consecutive matches in England, crashed to the right flank before a low cross broke out in a box of six meters, where Kane was available to come home 71. International goal.
Tuchel made several substitutes for injecting fresh energy into the game and paid off in the 76th minute. Phil Foden of Manchester City, presented instead of Jude Bellingham, played a simple passage by Eberechi Eze, who blinded the wembley bunch with great solo running.
The Crystal Palace passed through multiple veterans before firing home with a deduction, securing her first goal for England in style.
England continued to push forward, and Rogers Debutant approached several times, while Guehi missed the golden opportunity to add a quarter. Zviedris produced a series of impressive savings to achieve a respectable result, depriving Kane and Rogers late.
With the victory, England remained at the top of the group K and now has a 75-day break before its next qualifying against Andor’s 7th June.
In the meantime, Latvia will seem to be overgrown the same day in front of her conflict with Azerbaijan. For Tuchel and his team, this was another step in the right direction as they continued their journey to the 2026 World Cup.
