Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe should get the freedom of the city after the historic victory of the Carabao Cup club over Liverpool.
Howe led Magpies to a 2-1 victory on Sunday, securing his first major trophy since 1969.
As a recognition for this achievement, it will receive the highest Civic Honor Newcastle Can – a recognition previously approved by club legends such as Sir Bobby Robson, Alan Shearer and Jackie Milburn.
The announcement comes because another local hero, defender Dan Burn, is nominated for freedom of Northmerland.
A player born in Blyth played a key role in the finals, scoring the introductory goal of Newcastle at Wembley-the first club at the stadium in 25 years.
Karen Kilgour, the leader of the Newcastle City Council, was delighted with the Howow nomination for honor.

“Generations of fans never saw that their beloved club raises a home trophy, and under his leadership we have now appreciated the memories of a truly unforgettable day,” she said.
A formal certificate of the Howow’s award is expected to be held throughout the Council meeting later this year.
Meanwhile, Northumberland District Council, Glen Sanderson, praised Burn’s contribution and confirmed plans to nominate him for freedom of Northumberland.
“It’s a great victory for the region and the fact that a local guy from Blyth played such a key part of the journey wonderful,” he said.
In addition to these honors, the Northumberland National Park paid tribute to burning in a unique way – temporary renaming Elsdon Burn Walk as “Big Dan Burn Walk”.
“The Northumberland National Park is a place as big and expansive as the day itself,” they added, citing the height of the 6ft 6 FT defender.
The Carabao Cup Club’s victory will be marked by an open bus parade through the city. Newcastle United invited the fans to “save the date” for March 29, after an international break, when players and staff will display their long -awaited silver accessories.
