Leeds United manager Daniel Farka admitted that on Saturday he may have set up his team differently in sight after drawing 2-2 with Queens Park Rangers.
Leeds found himself 2-0 within 30 minutes, with a stunning strike by Koki Sait and unmarked Steve Cook header, he gave the QPR commanding early lead. Visitors, however, responded well in the second half, forcing their own goal from Morgan Fox before Jayden Divine equalized in the 51st minute.
Despite Leeds’ resistance, Farka remained to break the key decision he made in the morning in the game. The German coach revealed that he was thinking hard to start Ilia Gruev in the middle of the field, but in the end he opted for a more creative Joe Rothwell, who impressed Leeds’ victory in the middle of the week over Millwall.
Rothwell, however, struggled to repeat its shape in the middle of the week, and the QPR’s physicality causes problems for Leeds from the beginning. Farke suggested that Gruev in the middle of the field could help the team to get better solve these early challenges.
Leeds has shown a habit of recovery from losing positions of the last weeksAfter canceling the deficit to beat both Sunderland and Sheffield United. However, this time they were just stopped, settling at the Loftus Road point.
While the return was shown by Leeds’ fighter spirit, Fark’s regret for his midfielder emphasizes how Fine margins can be in the promotion race.
