Eddie Howe says it’s ‘one of the great stories’

Newcastle chief Eddie Howe described the invitation of Dan Burn to England as “one of the great stories” and welcomed the defender as a “real man”.

The 32-year-old was one of several surprised inclusions from new English Chief Coach Thomas Tuchel this morning Establishing himself as a regular in Newcastle’s side that meets Liverpool in Sunday’s EFL Cup final.

And Howe believes that its valuable inclusion is.

He said about Burn: “Yes, an amazing moment for a day – and I have to say that in my opinion there is no more deserving.

“Such an inspirational guy and a talented player, it’s a great football story. The day had to do it in a difficult way by passing through the leagues. He is a professional model; He is so dedicated to what he does. His character is so stable and so straight, I am so pleased with him on a personal level.

“We started working with the day when we did it and entered obviously during our Battle of Relegation, just so inspiring the guy, but also a very talented player.

“I think it’s a great story, one of the great stories, one of the great returns. A dedicated professional, a leader, a real man.”

No time to celebrate for Burn

Asked if he spoke with former defender of Fulham, Wigan and Brighton to talk about the news, Howe added: “Very briefly. He told us about the call very shortly before his arrival, so no, no time to celebrate with him straight to training for him.

“This is just a great time for the day, and of course for Newcastle. But the Cup final is, of course, all we are thinking about right now.”

Burn, which can also play the left back, will start on Sunday in the center of defense against Liverpool and be in charge of silence the powerful Reds attack.
