Crystal Palace and Arsenal clashed for the second time in three days when they clashed at Selhurst Park on Saturday, this time in the Premier League.
The two sides battled it out in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, with Arsenal playing host as they advanced to the semi-finals. Gabriel Jesus’ hat-trick saw off the Eagles despite a late rally sparked by Eddie Nketiah’s goal against his former employers.
Arsenal will fancy their chances of back-to-back wins over their south London foes, but their recent Premier League the form is far from ideal. Tame draws with Fulham and Everton led to losses to Chelsea and Liverpool, and a win against the Eagles was not enough to usurp either in the table.
In contrast, Palace’s recent league form has been very impressive. They regained their form after a disappointing start to the season and followed their own a respectable draw against current champions Manchester City with an excellent A23 derby victory over Brighton & Hove Albion away.
Here 90 minutes a guide to the London affair.

The Crystal Palace named their strongest XI against Arsenal in midweek and are unlikely to make many changes to the side.
Daniel Munoz, who missed Wednesday’s game in north London, is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the Premier League season at Brighton, but fellow defender Chadi Riad is closing in on a return after a three-month layoff and could be part of the squad for match day on Saturday.
However, Adam Wharton and Matheus Franca remain absent going forward, with the former recently suffering a setback in his recovery from a groin injury that is likely to see him miss the rest of the calendar year.
Predicted line-up of Crystal Palace against Arsenal (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Chalobah, Lacroix, Guehi; Clyne, Doucoure, Hughes, Mitchell; Sarr, Eze; Tests.
Arsenal they have four injuries to their senior squad and they all come in the full-back department. Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are absent on the right side of defence, while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riccardo Calafiori are unavailable on the left.
Declan Rice was left out of Arsenal’s squad on Wednesday while nursing a minor injury, but the midfielder should be available on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta made significant changes to his starting line-up against Palace in midweek, but will return to his preferred line-up on Saturday. Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Gabriel and Rice, if their fitness allows, should all return to the team.
Jesus secured a clinical hat-trick to decide Wednesday’s affair but could return to the bench alongside favored Kai Havertz.
Predicted line-up of Arsenal against Crystal Palace (4-3-3): Raya; Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Odegaard, Merino, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.
Wednesday’s meeting between the sides was a high-scoring affair, but both managers will be concerned about their teams’ openness at the Emirates, with steps likely to be taken to make Saturday’s clash a tighter and more tactical contest.
It could be a game with relatively good margins, with Arsenal potentially advancing once again. The Gunners have been far from their attacking best in recent games, but boast superior quality in the final third as well as a consistent threat from the ball.
