House vote on ‘very similar’ spending bill expected Friday morning, GOP lawmaker says


The House plans to vote on another CR proposal Friday morning to avoid the impending partial government shutdown, a GOP lawmaker he told reporters on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Florida, speaking to reporters outside Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, said lawmakers are “very close to an agreement” and a vote could be held as early as 10 a.m. of Friday

“I don’t think the government will shut down. You’re going to see great things, very similar to President Trump’s plan yesterday,” said the congresswoman.

Luna also added that “there will be no agreements with the Democrats”.

Legislation to avert a partial government shutdown that was supported by Trump it couldn’t happen in the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday night. The bill needed a two-thirds majority in the House to pass, but fell short of even a majority, with two Democrats voting with most Republicans to pass the bill and 38 Republican lawmakers against.
