Venus Williams will not play Indian wells despite the Wildcard | Tennis news


Tennis legend Venes Williams will not play at the BNP Paribas Open on Indian Wells, the tournament revealed.

Development comes for days after he announced that he would compete after accepting wild card intake.

“Our team was informed that Venus is not accepted by the Wild Card this year,” the event published on X in a statement attributed to the director of the Tommy Haas tournament.

“We wish Venus all the best and we hope to see her in the Indian wells in the future.”

BNP Paribas Open has previously announced a statement for the public revealing that the former world number 1 has been awarded Wildcard to appear in a tenth appearance in the tournament.

The 44-year-old did not compete from Miami Open in March 2024.
