Diogo Dalot believes that Manchester United can win the Premier League under Ruben Amorim – but he admitted that it would take time.
United is down 13th in the Premier League after a weak season so far, with the decision that the previous chief Erik Ten Hag replaced Amorim in November, did a little bit to encourage an increase in form.
The Red Devils have lost seven of their 11 Premier League matches since the former sports manager took over.
But despite their results below, the Portuguese international Dalot believes that he has seen enough of his compatriot to convince him that the 40-year-old will show himself as a discussion.
Speaking at a conversation with Group United PristrasDalot said, “I think we can win realistically. But then it becomes the hardest to hear as a fan: that it will take time.
“I understand. I’m a player, but at the same time, I know what you feel. I know this club is thirsty for victory and that everyone wants to win. We’re not talking about cups – I know it’s important to win trophies – but what brought this club into what it is is big trophies.
“I think we can win the Premier League with this manager, but at the same time we have to create an environment in which he has everything set for what he wants from players. We have to adapt to the system. It will take a while.
“Obviously we can’t think too much in front, but I’m really convinced that the way he behaves, the way he communicates with the players, the idea that he has … We can do it.
“Now it becomes the hardest part, but to be really honest and positive about it, I think with this manager we can win big trophies.”

United is hardly criticized for his performances this season, and Amorim himself admitted that the current crop could be the worst in the history of the club.
But the 25-year-old says there are also signs that I will get them in the near future at the right flow.
“I see things a little different,” Dalot explained. “I obviously share every day, every moment with my teammates, with people around the club, is a new staff, and you can see that there is one way.
“Sometimes when you go that way, you have a lot of things you need to change, and there is a lot of changes in the club, and it is always difficult to change things at this point, but at the same time, you have to win the games.
“We have been trying to train during the games for the last few months, so it was a really difficult process.
“I don’t like to sound like it’s always an excuse, but it’s a reality, and sometimes we have to deal with it. But at the same time we fight and try to improve things.
“But we also know that we have a great responsibility and we have to do much better than we did in the last few games.
“Because there are some moments we have shown that we can be a good team; that we can do what the manager wants us to do. We just try to find that consistency.”
